Step 1

Initial Assessment

New athletes are required to begin with an assessment. Returning athletes who have had longer than a 6 month gap in training will be asked to go through an assessment again. The assessment is a roughly 1-hour appointment that may run shorter or longer in some situations.

The goal is to individualize an athlete’s training as much as possible, and the assessment allows PDS to gather the necessary information in order to execute on that goal. In this session we will discuss injury history along with evaluating an athlete’s movement to understand if there are any physical limitations and/or imbalances that will affect training. Also, we will discuss and audit the athlete’s prior training along with establishing future goals and a training game plan. Finally, we will handle any scheduling details, which may vary based on the time of year. We ask that a parent is present for the meeting if the athlete does not manage his schedule independently.
